Whether flying into regional airports or driving in, the Greater Zion Region provides quick access to outdoor adventures and natural beauty. Plus, Zion National Park is just a short drive away, offering even more opportunities for exploration.

Getting Here

Open Sky Zion is located on the outskirts of Virgin, UT, offering a unique, off-the-beaten-path experience while still being conveniently close to Zion National Park.

The closest big city is St. George (32 miles away), with plenty of conveniences in nearby La Verkin and Hurricane (14 miles away). The park’s main west entrance is just 15 miles from Open Sky, about a 25-minute drive. This secluded location provides a peaceful retreat, while still offering easy access to Zion’s most popular destinations.

By Air

Recommended Airports: For easy access to Open Sky Zion, we suggest flying into either St. George Regional Airport or Las Vegas International Airport. Both offer convenient car rental options, as we do not offer transfer services at this time and a car is necessary for your trip.

From St. George Regional Airport: Open Sky Zion is approximately a 45-minute drive.From Las Vegas International Airport: The drive to Open Sky Zion takes about 2 hours and 45 minutes. Please keep in mind the 1-hour time zone difference between Nevada and Utah when planning your travel.

By Road

Getting to Open Sky Zion is perfect for those looking for staycations or planning road trips from nearby destinations like Las Vegas, California, Salt Lake City, Denver, and Arizona. Whether you’re escaping for a weekend or embarking on a scenic journey, Open Sky offers a unique off-the-beaten-path experience, with convenient access from major cities in the region.

The final stretch to Open Sky Zion includes a 3.5-mile drive on Dalton Wash Road, an improved dirt road. While regularly maintained by Washington County, it's advisable to check current conditions, especially during adverse weather. You don’t need a 4WD vehicle for this road; however, it can be washboarded in sections. The best advice is to take it slow and enjoy the unfolding scenery as you approach your destination—it’s all part of the journey to Open Sky Zion.

Davis Food & Drug: Located at the corner of Main and Highway 9, Davis’s is the closest grocery store to Open Sky Zion, offering a wide selection of essentials. Maverik Adventure's First Stop: Just down the road, Maverik is the nearest fuel station, providing gasoline, diesel, and a convenience store.River Rock Roasting Company: A popular drive-through spot for coffee and light bites—a perfect place to recharge on your way.Alcohol Purchases: Please note, La Verkin does not have a state-owned liquor store. For alcoholic beverages above 5% ABV, you can visit the state liquor store in Hurricane.
